About the Resort

Do you love the Canadian wilderness but also enjoy the comforts of home?
Then you’ve found the perfect spot at Rocky Ridge Resort!

Rocky Ridge Resort is open all year and has four cabins to choose from. For bigger groups or if you just want a little more space, the Bear and Eagle cabin are ideal. The two beautiful log cabins both come with not one but two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy living area with woodstove and sleeping space for up to six guests.

The Honeymoon or Hummingbird Cabin – is one of the smaller ones. It has a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom, a little living area with a woodstove and sleeping space for up to four guests. This cabin is a little bit away from the other three cabins. Perfect if you want some more privacy.

The Beaver cabin is the first and oldest building on the property, it got pulled on logs from further down the Kitsequecla Lake Road all the way to Rocky Ridge Resort. That’s why not everything is perfectly straight anymore and it got fixed up several times.  But it is however a super cute little A frame cabin with its own charm. It has a fully equipped kitchen, a full bathroom with bathtub, a queen size and a single bed upstairs and a nice woodstove in the livingroom. It is the only cabin with a small solar system so you have power for lights and to charge all your devices.

We don’t have electricity in any of our cabins except for the Beaver cabin, everything works with propane.

There’s also a small cottage with a nice wood Sauna, a bathroom and a separate shower inside – perfect to calm down after an adventurous day or just to relax!

Rocky Ridge Resort also has a rustic saloon that is called the “Dream Valley Saloon” where from time to time some special events will be held or you can rent it for your own events!                                                                                                                               It’s  perfect for birthday parties, weddings, retreats or whatever you want to celebrate.
It has two bathrooms with indoor plumbing, a fully equipped kitchen, one queen size bed and two woodstoves.
There’s space for approximately 30 people inside, but a lot of space outside!

At weddings and other big events guests with campers, caravans and tents are also welcome at Rocky Ridge Resort.

About us

CF2I0071(Left to right: Carole and her husband Ueli, Stefanie and her husband Romano with son Connor)

We are a Swiss family who fell in love with the incredible beauty of this country. After a long time of planning, organizing and waiting, our dream finally came true and we started our journey.

We visited the Rocky Ridge Resort for the first time in October 2012 and loved it right away!

In April of 2016 Rocky Ridge Resort was still for sale, so we went for it and bought our dream place. Since then we’re renovating, upgrading and fixing everything step by step. The resort was closed and up for sale for over 10 years before we bought it, meaning there was a lot to do…

But as a family everything is much easier. Everyone has their talents and strengths so we were able to repair everything on our own and make it the beautiful resort it is today.

We are happy to be here and are looking forward to what will happen in the future.

See you soon, your Rocky Ridge Family 🙂

Super friendly staff. AMAZING location. Loved the little touches— nice soaps, clean towels, a bbq. So thoughtfully done, our cabin even had a build in ledge for a bird to build its nest. So affordable for what it was, too.

On our tour of Western Canada in May 2022, we booked Rocky Rich Resort for two nights as a relaxing stopover. We were warmly welcomed by the Swiss owners in the German language and could directly move into our already wonderful and very spacious (about 95 square meters) pre-heated cabin. We felt so comfortable that we extended our stay for one night the next morning. Regarding activities, we were given great advice by the owners (different walks in the area) and the resort also has a lot to offer (e.g. sauna hut – 2 min walk from the cabin including shower, toilet, porch) Canoeing on the lake – 1.5km from the cabin within walking distance). All in all, a wonderful oasis in the Canadian hinterland – where you can enjoy the “Canadian life” in nature in your own log cabin – besides the animals in the resort dog, cat, horse you can also see the local wildlife and even hummingbirds (yes, they are also available in Canada)! We also wish everyone a memorable time in one of the four mountain huts!

We love the cabins at Rocky Ridge, the best part is being ‘off grid’ in beautiful surroundings. We’ve stayed in every cabin at the resort, and our stay in the Honeymoon Cabin was so cosy, comfortable and warm! We will return again!

-Alison, Bookings.com

The cabins are beautiful, perfectly appointed for the off grid experience. Woke up with mama black bear and her Cubs in the field with the clouds in the mountain tops behind them. A short 15 min walk brings you to a beautiful backcountry lake. In a short visit to the lake we saw many fish attempt fight lol. If your looking for a a memorable off grid experience with running water, propane appliances and light fixtures this is the place for you!

-Spencer, Bookings.com

The scenery was gorgeous, the family was very friendly, amazing hosts, the cabins were rustic and very tidy, the sauna was a wonderful experience, the canoeing was a lot of fun.

-Alexander, Bookings.com

We felt so much at peace at the Rocky Ridge Resort. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a true wilderness experience. Nestled between mountain ranges and wild creeks, the cabins allow privacy and lots of opportunities for outdoor activities! Lakes, mountains and trails in front of your door.

Rocky Ridge Resort was an amazing place to stay! Lots of trails to hike and things to see. The sauna was amazing after a good hike. The views of the mountains directly behind the cabins are breathtaking. Along with cute, clean cabins it made for an awesome weekend. Will definitely be back!

Rocky Ridge Resort is a magical place. This was my second time to the property, first time at the Hummingbird Cabin with my partner. Beautiful cabin and very private. We loved exploring the property, hanging with the horses, playing cards by the lake, and relaxing in the sauna. Perfect getaway and so nice to be out of service/wifi!

-Spencer, Air BnB

The Rocky Ridge Resort is the perfect retreat if you’re looking to unplug and tune into nature, while staying in a beautiful log cabin. I wish we could have stayed longer. We took advantage of the sauna (an extra $50 but well worth it), and we loved the views of the the mountains, trees, and other cabins. The rooms were very clean, and the amenities were exactly what we needed. The wood fire was the cherry on top, and the Rocky Ridge Family made sure to have chopped firewood and kindling nearby for our convenience. There was no electricity or wifi, and it added to the charm. We had cozy sleeps, and relaxing days. We plan to stay again, hopefully longer the next time.

-Shannon, Air BnB

What an experience at Rocky Ridge Resort, the views were amazing and the cabins were cozy and comforting. We enjoyed the peaceful getaway so much that we booked extra nights not wanting to leave. What a way to unwind.

-Nick, Air BnB

We had a lovely friendly welcome by our hosts with a personal introduction to Bear Cabin. The setting is idyllic, with wide open spaces and stunning mountain ranges. Our family of 3 generations enjoyed exploring the trail to the nearby lake, and swimming, which is best accessed from the recreation area just off the road on way up to Rocky Ridge. we loved the tranquility – a perfect place to unplug and unwind.

-Paul, Air BnB

It was one of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed at around the world! So cozy, stunning views, the sky at night took our breath away. We saw shooting stars, the snow shoeing was amazing! One of my favourite places to stay by far!!
